The publishers, to quote their exact words, claim to have made "a very faithful translation of the original book." When they say "unfortunately the book is out of print since for some years" it is ambiguous as to whether they mean the original by Seán Manchester, or their own illegally translated version. It is currently impossible to find a copy of the Italian translation, or how many copies have been fraudulently sold. The translator, Alessio Donnini, wrote another book titled "La vera storia del vampiro di Highgate" (the true story of the Highgate Vampire). An interview given by Donnini a couple of years back to promote his book alleges that Seán Manchester "has been excommunicated by the Vatican and later reinstated by the Anglican Church." A libellous and totally false statement if ever there was one! Not a source, therefore, one can trust. It is hardly surprising that these people have gone to ground. If tracked down, Alessio Donnini will be prosecuted for fraud, theft of intellectual property and defamation.
